Goaltender Jonathan Quick will start when the Kings face the Calgary Flames on Thursday at Staples Center, which isn't news. But it will continue what could end up being a long streak after Coach Terry Murray's decision to erase his schedule in order to give more starts to Quick and fewer to Jonathan Bernier . Remember those wobbly, unfocused off-seasons the Kings once stumbled through? Indeed, they have become a thing of the past. Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi and his staff have been as efficient off the ice as the team has been proficient on it. They have sliced through another long to-do list this summer, largely keeping the core intact. As they will attempt to go deep into the spring for a third straight year, the Kings nevertheless face several questions with players arriving Wednesday and training camp officially opening Thursday.

Unlike his players, Sutter was hurt long before the shortened season started. He finally had double-hernia surgery after the Kings were eliminated by the Blackhawks, and, in fact, had it repaired, robotically. CBS TV, locally, reported last week on the Da Vinci robotic surgical system and Sutter's recent procedure . His boss, Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi, joked about Sutter's legendary stubbornness.
