NEW YORK -- Joseph Altuzarra was in the news last week when it was announced that luxury goods conglomerate Kering (formerly named PPR) invested in his burgeoning brand. So expectations were high for his collection, shown Saturday night at New York Fashion Week. And Altuzarra did not disappoint. The inspiration: Japanese Boro clothing, or "everyday garments patched and pieced to prolong their usefulness for the farmers and fishermen who wore them," according to the show notes. The look: Utilitarian Japanese work wear and ethnic accents spun into sultry luxury.

NEW YORK - The fashion pack weathered two major snowstorms, journeyed to Brooklyn via water taxi, got stuck in elevators, and slipped and fell on a chocolate-drenched runway. Wait, isn't New York Fashion Week supposed to be glamorous? Meteorological mishaps and logistical gripes aside, it was, and the shows that ended last week boasted a Dolby Theatre's worth of celebrities to prove it - including Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Diane Kruger at Boss Womenswear, and Jared Leto at Jeremy Scott.

CBS announced Monday that it will broadcast this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Dec. 10. The announcement cited appearances by angels Karlie Kloss (shown above Sunday during New York Fashion Week), Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel and more. New York Fashion Week was in high gear this weekend with stellar shows by Alexander Wang, Mara Hoffman, Monique Lhuillier, Victoria Beckham, Joseph Altuzarra and more. NEW YORK -- Color, craftsmanship, comfort and joy were some of the words that Joseph Altuzarra used to describe the inspiration for his fall 2014 collection presented Saturday afternoon during New York Fashion Week. The look : Bold and sophisticated but relaxed. Classic sportswear in the tradition of old masters Calvin Klein and Bill Blass in neutral tones enhanced with vivid brights. Key pieces : Double face cashmere wrap coat in navy and cobalt blue; hand-woven pink tapestry-like knit dress with the craftsy look of a fiber art wall hanging; forest green belted blazer and pencil skirt with splices of magenta color; body skimming white silk crepe dress sliced and slit to reveal the body; boxy shearling jackets that brought to mind an haute Patagonia fleece; Technicolor plaid intarsia fur coat.

In an interview with Newsweek, Kristen Stewart apologizes to "everyone for making them so angry. " She's referring to the dustup when it was revealed that she had a romantic interlude with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, cheating on boyfriend and "Twilight" costar Robert Pattinson. [Newsweek]  L'Wren Scott, Mick Jagger's designer girlfriend, has shown her collections in intimate gatherings in her Paris showroom and in New York, but she has opted to show her fall-winter 2013 collection in London in February.

PARIS -- Known for his provocative gowns, which have been worn by Jennifer Lopez, Giselle Bundchen and others, Belgian-born designer Anthony Vaccarello showed his collection Tuesday during the first day of Paris Fashion Week. The scene: Interest in this up-and-coming talent is high, especially now that Vaccarello is rumored to be in the running to take the top spot at Versace's secondary line, Versus, following J.W. Anderson in what is intended to be a revolving slate of designers.

A Louis Vuitton exhibition in Moscow is being dismantled after an outcry over the size of the temporary exhibition hall, which looked like a piece of giant Louis Vuitton luggage. The hall, set up in Red Square, had blocked the view of St. Basil's Cathedral. [WWD] Andre Leon Talley, television personality and former Vogue editor at large, is entering a one-year partnership as artistic director for Zappos Couture, the high-end part of the e-commerce shoe business. [WWD] Filming has started on the movie version of "Fifty Shades of Grey," according to a tweet Sunday from producer Dana Brunetti.

As I noted previously this week, the October magazines are almost upon us, and I won't mind at all that Cosmopolitan's offering includes Darren Criss as the monthly Cosmo Guy. Criss, a star of "Glee," has been one of the notably best dressed dudes on summer red carpets, and he keeps it up in the magazine, as this photograph shows. [Cosmopolitan] Sotheby's plans to auction a 118-carat white diamond next month, and it is expected to sell for $28-million or more. If it does, it reportedly would be the most expensive diamond ever sold.

At Chloé, spring's offerings include pleated white silk cloqué dresses and pants with loose ankle ties that skim the body. Earth meets sky in Donna Karan's collection, awash in burnished terracottas and indigo blues and loose layers draped scarf-like.
