Cal State Fullerton's trouble at home seemed to be at work again Thursday night: The Titans trailed UC Santa Barbara by 19 at halftime. But Fullerton came back for a 72-65 victory in Titan Gym, buoyed by 20 second-half points by Josh Akognon, who finished with 29 on 10-for-23 shooting, including five of nine from three-point range. The Titans, 12-10 overall and 6-4 in the Big West, began the game 1-3 in conference home games, but 4-1 on the road.

A night after the Josh Akognon Show at the Big West Conference tournament, UC Santa Barbara didn't want to see a repeat of the Cal State Fullerton star's 37-point performance. The Gauchos already had caught his act in Titan Gym in February, anyway: That night, he scored 29 and brought Fullerton from 22 points behind to win. This time, Santa Barbara did what amounts to holding Akognon down.

OMAHA -- One of the untold stories of Cal State Fullerton's 71-56 loss to Wisconsin on Thursday night at the Qwest Center was a discrepancy in fouls, and Fullerton Coach Bob Burton wanted to keep it untold. Fullerton was whistled for 25, Wisconsin for only 11 and Burton had to bite his lip not to say anything. "I'm new to this big time stuff here so I don't think I'm supposed to comment on it, which I would absolutely love to," Burton said. "It was very discouraging. " -- Frank Robinson entered the game averaging 16 points and seven rebounds and had 11 points and three rebounds when he fouled out with more than 12 minutes remaining.
