The final CBS News executive asked to resign for his role in the network's discredited report on President Bush's military service reached a settlement with CBS and quit Tuesday. Josh Howard was executive producer of the "60 Minutes Wednesday" broadcast in which the Sept. 8, 2004, report aired. An independent panel later concluded that documents used to question Bush's National Guard service could not be verified. Three others were ousted for their roles in the story.

The Dallas Mavericks traded Josh Howard , Drew Gooden, James Singleton and Quinton Ross to the Washington Wizards on Saturday in exchange for Caron Butler , Brendan Haywood and DeShawn Stevenson . Howard was in his seventh season with Dallas, a span filled with promise and disappointment since he was the 29th overall pick in 2003. Gooden, signed by Dallas last summer, will be going to his eighth team in eight NBA seasons. It is a significant move for the Southwest Division-leading Mavericks (32-20)

. -- Dwight Howard made Shaquille O'Neal run. He made him fall. Then he got the ultimate vindication: he made him flop. Howard had 21 points and eight rebounds in a bruising battle with O'Neal, and the Orlando Magic beat the Phoenix Suns 111-99 on Tuesday. With nearly 600 pounds of All-Stars on the inside, bodies were flying. On one play in the third quarter Howard backed down O'Neal, sent him to the floor flopping and dunked over the 325-pounder. O'Neal had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard was fined $5,000 by the NBA on Saturday for shoving San Antonio's Bruce Bowen on Thursday night. The 6-foot-7 Howard knocked down Bowen with a hard shove in the second quarter of the Spurs' 97-91 victory. Howard was called for a flagrant foul, penalty one. On Saturday, the league fined Howard and upgraded the foul to a penalty two.
