Landon Donovan scored, then jumped into David Beckham's arms, and the Galaxy celebrated its fifth win in six games with a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night. The display of togetherness came barely two months after Donovan criticized Beckham's leadership and commitment in a book about Beckham's stint with the Galaxy. Donovan scored in the 21st minute, when Alan Gordon's shot ricocheted off Revolution defender Darius Barnes. Donovan volleyed the rebound from about 20 yards on the right that curled just inside the far post and past goalkeeper Matt Reis.

Magee, a native of Chicago, scored in the 23rd minute after Jovan Kirovski converted a midfield turnover into a counter-attack for the Galaxy (8-4-10). The Galaxy was playing without Beckham after he earned a one-game suspension for a red card in Saturday's 2-0 loss to Seattle. In only a few weeks, Galaxy Coach Steve Sampson must identify the 12 players he will protect in Major League Soccer's expansion draft, when the league's two new clubs, Chivas USA and Real Salt Lake City, will begin stocking their rosters for 2005. On Saturday night, forward Jovan Kirovski might have assured himself a place among Sampson's select 12.

Playing without their two top scorers for the fourth straight match, there had to be some question as to whether the Galaxy could keep producing goals Saturday against the Houston Dynamo. And that question persisted for nearly a minute until Jovan Kirovski scored on a header, starting the Galaxy on its way to a relatively easy 4-1 victory in front of 20,826 at the Home Depot Center. Kirovski scored off a crossing pass from the right side by Sean Franklin in the game's first minute.

— The Seattle Sounders' game plan Saturday was simple: Don't let Edson Buddle score. And in that they were successful, becoming only the third MLS team this season to shut out the league's scoring leader. But they didn't do so well against the rest of the Galaxy. Because with everybody in a Seattle uniform shadowing Buddle, the rest of the team was left to run free, and four of them — Jovan Kirovski, Omar Gonzalez, Todd Dunivant and Landon Donovan — scored their first goals of the season in a 4-0 rout in front of a record crowd of 36,273 at Qwest Field.
