First it was Elisabeth Hasselbeck's time to say farewell, and now it's Joy Behar's. The discussion table on "The View" is starting to get sparse. On Thursday, ABC announced her final day on "The View" would be Aug. 9. Behar's departure has long been planned, but she had not yet set an actual final date. The special episode, titled "This Was Your Life on 'The View' Joy Behar," will be hosted by comedian Mario Cantone and feature a look back at Behar's most memorable moments from her 16 years on the show, including the time she stormed off the set after arguing with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly.

After 16 years, Joy Behar is leaving "The View. " Behar, the brassy Brooklyn-born comic, announced that she's leaving ABC's morning talkfest at the end of her contract in August. "You reach a point where you say, 'Do I want to keep doing this?'," Behar told Deadline.com, which broke the news late Thursday. "There are other things on my plate I want to do -- I've been writing a play, I've been neglecting my stand-up. " Behar added that she'd be interested in joining CNN, which is being re-engineered by new boss Jeff Zucker, with whom Behar recently took a meeting.

Rosie O'Donnell is returning to “The View,” but this time as a guest. Executive producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie announced Monday the former co-host would return to “The View” on Feb. 7, marking her first appearance on the show since her fiery tenure as moderator from 2006 to 2007. During that time, the left-leaning comedian steered the conversation to politics and clashed bitterly with Elisabeth Hasselbeck over hot-button issues, particularly the war in Iraq.

Al Gore is turning to another cable-news castoff to help prop up his Current TV network. This time, it's Joy Behar. Behar - best-known for ABC's morning gabfest “The View” - will co-host a 6 p.m. talk show Monday through Thursday starting in September for the low-rated outlet founded by Gore and legal entrepreneur Joel Hyatt. The program will repeat in prime time. In a sort of dry run, Behar will guest-host for the vacationing Eliot Spitzer next week on Current's “Viewpoint.” In a statement, Gore, the former vice president and Nobel laureate, called Behar “a beloved veteran television personality with her finger on the pulse of what viewers care about.” Well, sometimes.

That's a wrap for Joy Behar, who left ABC's daytime gabfest "The View" on Friday after 16 years. The hourlong farewell included celebrity appearances -- Regis Philbin, Meredith Vieira, Joan Rivers, Alan Alda and others -- as well as a tribute from cohost Barbara Walters, who discovered Behar doing standup at a birthday tribute for Milton Berle. "I have to thank the most important people: My hair and makeup people," Behar joked. "I'll be sexting every one of you in the fall," she told the show's crew.

Joy Behar has too much to say for just one hour a day, so the veteran co-host of ABC's "The View" plans to double up with her own show on HLN. The cable network, formerly known as Headline News, says "The Joy Behar Show" will star the comedian and TV personality in a talk-and-interview hour airing nightly at 6 p.m. It will premiere this fall, with the popular "Nancy Grace Show" as lead-in. It replaces a repeat of CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight." Behar will continue her day job on "The View," where she's been a fixture since that program began in 1997.

Health experts already didn't like the fact that Jenny McCarthy got a job on "The View. " Now comes word that ordinary viewers don't like her either. McCarthy, the former Playboy model who joined ABC's morning chatfest this year, is proving more polarizing than Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the outspoken former panelist who left to join Fox News, according to Radar. The report says the producers are scrutinizing data about audience preferences and that McCarthy's job is "in jeopardy.

These days it's more normal to come from a broken family than from parents who have been married for 40 years. That's the world ABC's new comedy "Trophy Wife" is interested in exploring, said its creators during a summer press tour in Beverly Hills on Sunday. It turns out that the term "trophy wife," normally associated with a rich man marrying a beautiful, much younger woman, is meant to be ironic in the case of the show. (Which makes sense for a female-friendly network like ABC, but whether prospective audiences will get it is another matter.)

Seth Rogen has just been announced as the roast master for the upcoming Comedy Central roast of James Franco. Which guarantees two things: The proceedings will get very raunchy, and there will be a lot of jokes about weed. Rogen and Franco first teamed up in 1999 on the TV series "Freaks and Geeks" and have since joined forces on "Pineapple Express," "This Is the End" and the forthcoming "The Interview. " PHOTOS: Celebrities by The Times The roast will tape at Culver Studios on Aug. 18 and air on Labor Day, Sept.

It's been a long time since "Jeopardy" has provoked anger in anyone. But that's where the syndicated game show finds itself after the most recent Kids Week tournament. Don't mess with the kids, Trebek! The incident that touched off the outrcy was the spelling of "Emancipation Proclamation" by Newtown, Conn., eighth grader Thomas Hurley during Final Jeopardy. Poor Thomas wrote "Emanciptation Proclamation," and though there's no question what he was going for, the unforgiving "Jeopardy" judges wouldn't give it a thumbs up. Not that it would have mattered much, as his competitor Skyler Hornback nearly doubled his already sizable lead by answering correctly (and spelling it correctly)

Barbara Walters has chicken pox. Not shingles, which comes from the same virus and is something one might more  likely expect in a woman who's 83 years old. No, Babs has good old-fashioned chicken pox. "She'd never had it as a child," Whoopi Goldberg said Monday on "The View. "So now she's been told to rest, she's not allowed any visitors and, we're telling you, Barbara - no scratching. " Goldberg had previously talked on the show about Walters being in the hospital and running a low-grade fever after the correspondent fell and cut her head at a Jan. 19 inaugural event.

Hoda Kotb of NBC's "Today" may want to take her landing strip somewhere else -- like maybe ABC's archrival morning talk show, "The View. " ABC executives are hot to snag Kotb as a replacement for Joy Behar, who's leaving "The View," according to a repor t in the New York Post. On the fourth hour of "Today," Kotb has become famous as a kind of straight woman to the ungovernable Kathie Lee Gifford, with the pair engaging in loose and often racy chick-chat. In perhaps their most famous moment, seen in the above video, a whirl of discussion about female grooming led to Kotb telling Gifford she has a "landing strip" in her private area.

NEW YORK - Less than a week after Elisabeth Hasselbeck said her goodbyes after 10 years on "The View," another divisive blond has joined the daytime talk show. On Monday, Barbara Walters confirmed the rumors that Playboy model-turned-anti-vaccine-crusader Jenny McCarthy would officially become a co-host on "The View" when it launches its 17th season on Sept. 9. "We love her because she's fun and uninhibited and opinionated enough to help us begin the latest chapter in 'The View' history," Walters said on the air of McCarthy, who has made 17 appearances on the show, including eight as a guest co-host.
