The mother of a San Clemente teen-ager who was killed when he was speared in the head with a paint roller following a beachside altercation Oct. 15, 1993, has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against nine people she said were responsible. Stephen L. Woods, 17, died Nov. 9, 1993, three weeks after two groups of high school friends clashed near San Clemente State Beach.

Two San Clemente men were charged Tuesday with six counts each of felony assault and one count each of throwing a projectile at a moving vehicle in connection with the gruesome spearing of a San Clemente teen-ager Friday. Sheriff's deputies had arrested four San Clemente men and five juveniles Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder in the attack, which has left 17-year-old Stephen Woods near death at Children's Hospital of Orange County.

Two San Clemente men arrested in the spearing death of San Clemente teen-ager Steve Woods pleaded innocent Tuesday to charges of murder during a brief hearing in South County Municipal Court.
