A pair of malamute dogs mauled to death an infant girl Saturday night at a Woodland Hills residence, Los Angeles police said. Paramedics rushed the 7-month-old child to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Woodland Hills, where she died, Officer Debbie Garrett said. Her name was not released immediately. Garrett said police did not know what prompted the 5:10 p.m. attack at a home in the 22600 block of Clarendon Street.

A 4-year-old Santa Clarita boy who fell into an elevated hot tub and was under water for several minutes before he was noticed by family members who were swimming in a nearby pool has died, authorities said Monday. Jason Nyerges died Saturday at Kaiser Foundation Hospital, where he had been in a coma since the Aug. 4 accident, said hospital spokeswoman Linda Quon.

A 55-year-old man arrested Monday on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance died Tuesday after being shocked twice with a Taser stun gun by San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies, authorities said. Leroy Pierson was seen acting strangely near an intersection, officials said, and was shocked when he became combative. He was taken to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana, where he died.

A Pacoima man was shot to death outside an Arleta bar early Tuesday, police said. Ernesto Reyes, 26, was shot once in the upper body at about 1:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Dohinkys Bar at 8929 Woodman Ave., Det. Dan Dejarnette of the LAPD's Van Nuys Division said. Reyes was taken to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Panorama City, where he died 40 minutes later, police said. Bar patrons heard several shots and went outside to find Reyes on the ground, police said.

Murder charges were filed Thursday against two Pacoima men accused of the gang-related shooting death of an Arleta man, Los Angeles police said. Jose Martinez, 19, and Gerardo Hernandez, 20, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shooting Mario Hernandez, 18, Detective Frank Bishop said. Hernandez was shot March 4 as he stood with his 15-year-old sister in his garage in the 14100 block of Claretta Street. He died a short time later at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Panorama City.

Four pregnant women on their way to receive prenatal care at a Los Angeles medical center were injured Sunday in a car accident in Hancock Park, fire officials said. Two of the women were hospitalized and remained in stable condition Sunday at Midway Hospital Medical Center. The others were treated at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in West Los Angeles and released. Hospital officials declined to release their names.

A worker suffered chemical burns over most of his body Monday while he was mixing chemicals at an industrial plant in San Pedro, officials said. Gerard Hoch was burned when about 10 gallons of hydrochloric acid accidentally mixed with an undetermined chemical, a Fire Department spokesman said. The mixture produced an explosive reaction that coated Hoch with acid. He was taken to Kaiser Foundation Hospital-Harbor City after the incident at about 9 a.m.
