One of the most striking metaphors for the tension within “Yeezus,” the new album from rapper Kanye West, arrives nearly 25 minutes in during a song called “I'm in It.” It involves a Martin Luther King Jr. quote. “Thank God almighty, free at last” raps West. The line is notable for what it's not: a charged reference to black freedom. Rather, those that are “free at last” aren't enslaved humans but a woman's breasts, released from the bondage of a bra during a bathroom tryst.

Kim Kardashian is splashing back at claims that she and Kanye West could be taking their relationship to the next level. At a Saturday Halloween bash in New York City, Kardashian rocked a sexy mermaid look with West on her arm, hitting a red carpet in the name of her Midori liqueur endorsement and apparently rumor patrolling. The whisper in question came from Ryan Seacrest, the radio host and TV personality who serves as executive producer for...

Sharon Osbourne has decided Kanye West is not only not a god -- he's not even that talented. "He's an average-looking guy with an average talent," the co-host of CBS' "The Talk" said on Thursday's show. Mrs. O's dig was part of a "Talk" backlash against the rapper, who has been even more boastful than usual while promoting his new album "Yeezus. " In one interview, West -- who just had a baby named North with Kim Kardashian -- called himself the "No. 1 living and breathing rock star" and compared himself favorably with Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison.

Kanye West has a resume that is nothing if not diverse, including chart-topping musician, fashion designer, tabloid staple, music-video director and cultural firebrand. He has claimed to be creative director on an upcoming "Jetsons" movie and, in a recent interview promoting his album "Yeezus," he declared that his wide-ranging cultural interests have "only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. " In a pair of messages posted to his Twitter account Wednesday night, West added film critic to that resume when he stated, "I saw a pre-screening of Pacific Rim yesterday and it's easily one of my favorite movies of all time" and "This is not another 'Robot' movie.

Kanye West might have plenty of sweet nothings he wants to whisper in Kim Kardashian's ear, but the name Beyonce isn't one of them. Since the two individually overexposed figures combined forces as a maybe-couple about two weeks ago, media outlets have run wild trying to flesh out everything from shopping sprees to romantic dinners to jaunts to Paris. But one particular claim, that West was calling Kardashian "his Beyonce," according to...

Kanye West caught plenty of flak last month when he premiered the (pretty fascinating!) music video for his song "Bound 2. " In the unlikely event that you don't remember, it's the borderline-NSFW clip in which West and his fiancee, Kim Kardashian, ride a motorcycle through a rather crudely digitized landscape resembling the American West. Now "Bound 2" is attracting a different kind of heat: the legal kind. PHOTOS: Best albums of 2013 According to Rolling Stone , Ricky Spicer of the '70s soul group the Ponderosa Twins Plus One -- whose song " Bound " provides the indelible vocal hook in West's track -- filed suit Monday in New York, alleging that the rapper used Spicer's voice without permission.

Kanye West may be a fashion maven, but he doesn't have much love for a "Suit & Tie. " At his Friday London gig at the Hammersmith Apollo, West took about 10 minutes out of his set to tear into Justin Timberlake's new single, the Grammys and corporate sponsorship of pop music. It's classic Ye: making enemies of powerful figures , lambasting institutions that fail to recognize his genius, and a continued wrinkle in his complicated relationship with music and commerce. The "Suit & Tie" jab might be most surprising, as the song prominently features his longtime collaborator and "Watch the Throne"-mate Jay Z. "I got love for Hov, but I ain't ... with that 'Suit & Tie'," West said.

Whoops - Kanye West went and started a feud with someone who has a powerful weapon apparently not possessed by the volatile rapper: a sense of humor. Guess who won? West took a shot at online shoe retailer Zappos during a Tuesday podcast with Bret Easton Ellis that touched on topics ranging from film to fashion, E! News reported. During the chat, West slammed Zappos' chief exec, Tony Hsieh. "I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he's trying to tell me what I need to focus on," West said.
