Kanye West's new album “Yeezus” has picked up a lot of plaudits in the usual pop music critic circles, and now it's collecting support from some impressive, not-so-usual sources, among them punk godfather Lou Reed and filmmaker David Lynch. Reed has reviewed the album for the Talkhouse musician website, saying in a generally enthusiastic assessment, “No one's near doing what he's doing, it's not even on the same planet.” And this week, Lynch -- who has a new album of his own coming later this month -- says he's enamored of the track “Blood on the Leaves” from “Yeezus,” which entered the Billboard album chart at No. 1 last week.

Hip-hop superstar and aspiring filmmaker Kanye West took to the Cannes Film Festival to show his new short film. It's titled “Cruel Summer” - though so far, West's summer has been anything but. He showed up to the festival with reality star and girlfriend Kim Kardashian on his arm, and the two celebrated West's half-hour film, which plays over seven screens in a specially designed pop-up theater (in typically understated Kanye fashion)....

Kanye West is scheduled to perform Saturday night on the season finale of "Saturday Night Live," where the rapper is widely expected to preview material from an upcoming album that may be released on June 18. "I'm doing 500 / I'm out of control now," Kanye West growled halfway through "Black Skinhead," one of two new songs the rap superstar performed on "Saturday Night Live. " Here's the thing, though: For all the righteous fury he summoned in "Black Skinhead" -- which appears to have been inspired in part by reactions to his relationship with Kim Kardashian -- West never sounded out of control Saturday. His performance was a thrilling master class in applied energy, a focused beam of intensity aimed directly at a "Middle America packed in ... to see me in my black skin," as he put it in lyrics he posted to Twitter following the show.

Kim Kardashian has said numerous times that she and boyfriend Kanye West are taking things slowly, but is it ever too soon to start thinking about forever? Despite last year's implosion of her 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries and West's general unpredictability, it appears Kardashian has already exchanged "I love you's" with the rapper and is thinking ahead to their old age. Gracing the cover of New York magazine's fall fashion issue, Kardashian invited readers on a ride-along of a recent day in New York City, where she's been sharing West's SoHo condominium.
