One favorite springtime land and sea holiday, quintessentially American and not far from home, is to combine a visit to the Kentucky Derby with a cruise on a paddle wheel steamboat. The Derby package reserves an inside or outside cabin aboard one of Delta Queen Steamboat Co.'s three paddle wheelers, the use of the vessel as a hotel during the Louisville stay and reserved seats for the Kentucky Derby May 4.

LOUISVILLE, KY.  - Todd Pletcher is now one for 36 in the Kentucky Derby. The trainer with a vast empire of horses entered five in Saturday's 139th run for the roses and, as bettors expected, Revolutionary, the colt guided by Calvin Borel , moved well over the wet track - but not well enough to catch winner Orb. Borel had Revolutionary running at the end, but ultimately finished third. A three-time winner of the race - twice in mud - Borel had spurred bettors to make Revolutionary the favorite for much of the day. "The only thing I could have done on the far turn was creep up closer on him," Borel said.

Five minutes after Eurosilver had run second in the Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Florida Derby day, trainer Nick Zito declared that his colt would win the Blue Grass. But now Eurosilver, suffering from a neck infection, won't even run in the Keeneland race on April 10, and he's uncertain for the Kentucky Derby on May 1. Zito is running out of time with Eurosilver, who largely by default has been considered a lukewarm Derby favorite.

A horse few believed in. A jockey with little big-time experience. A very accomplished trainer who had never won a Triple Crown race. All that's changed is I'll Have Another shocked an incredibly competitive field to win the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby. On a day when speed was holding up, the Southern California-based horse blew past a tiring Bodemeister in deep stretch to win by 11/2 lengths. It was the third time jockey Mario Gutierrez, 25, has ridden the colt, having previously won the Robert B. Lewis and Santa Anita Derby.
