UC Irvine and campus-based KUCI (88.9 FM) have reached an agreement for the radio station to broadcast all of the Anteaters' men's basketball games this season. It will be the first time in three years that all UCI road games will be carried by an Orange County station. KUCI recently increased its power from 24 watts to 200 and will now be heard by most of the county. Kevin Turner, play-by-play announcer the last two seasons, will return. The first broadcast will be Nov.

Sylmar High receiver Kevin Turner has been declared academically ineligible and will miss postseason play, Coach Jeff Engilman said. Turner, the Spartans' leading receiver with 16 catches for 256 yards and two touchdowns, suited up for practice Monday, but went first to a talk to an English teacher before heading to the field. He didn't return to practice. "He basically just stopped showing up," Engilman said. "Nobody's heard from him since."

In other nonconference men's basketball games: Los Angeles Harbor 87, Golden West 83--Reggie Borges made two free throws with 12 seconds remaining to break an 83-83 tie for Harbor (4-7). Darnell Graham had 32 points and 14 rebounds for Golden West (0-7).

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world's largest retailer, named a new chief of its Sam's Club unit, which is struggling in the face of tough competition from Costco Wholesale Corp. and BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. Wal-Mart promoted its chief information officer, Kevin Turner, 37, to replace Tom Grimm, who is retiring. Growth at Sam's Club has lagged behind Wal-Mart's other units. Earlier this month, the warehouse segment posted operating profit growth of just 3% for the second quarter.

More than 2,000 former NFL players and their families will file a “master complaint” in court Thursday, consolidating their nearly 100 concussion-related lawsuits against the NFL. The complaint will be filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the NFL “deliberately and fraudulently concealed from its players the link between football-related head impacts and long-term neurological injuries.” ...
