Trent Blakley had 19 points, five rebounds and two steals for Bakersfield. at UC Irvine 80, Hawaii 70 : Pavol Losonsky scored 15 points and Eric Wise finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and a career-high seven assists to lead the Anteaters (4-3) over the Warriors (2-5). The Mustangs (9-16, 6-7) made up a 14-point deficit and took a 65-64 lead with 2 minutes 3 seconds to play. MEN at UC Riverside 58 , San Diego 55 : Kyle Austin had 28 points and 10 rebounds, and the Highlanders (5-2) rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to overtake the Toreros (4-4) in the final minute to win. De'Jon Jackson led San Diego with 16 points. Dwight Gordon had 12 points for the Highlanders, who have won five straight after starting the season with two losses. The Lions (9-8) led by as many as 17 points in the first half and 38-25 at halftime. Mychel Thompson scored a game-high 22 points for the Waves and had a career-high six three-point baskets. The Waves connected on a season-high 14 three-point baskets, including nine of 12 in the second half. Jonathan Dupre' made a three-point basket with two minutes remaining to give Pepperdine the lead for good, 67-65.

USC forward Taj Gibson was named Pacific 10 Conference defensive player of the year Monday, and UCLA guard Darren Collison made the All-Pac-10 team for the second time in his career. Conference coaches voted Arizona State's James Harden player of the year and Washington guard Isaiah Thomas freshman of the year. Lorenzo Romar, who guided the Huskies to their first outright title since 1953, was named coach of the year.

Kyle Austin went from playing power forward, small forward, shooting guard and point guard in high school to barely playing at all as a freshman at USC. His opportunities were so scarce that Austin on Tuesday could recall exactly how many minutes he played (19) during a victory against George Washington in which he was instrumental in the Trojans' second-half comeback.

Having played only two minutes before sustaining a serious back injury last month, USC sophomore forward Kyle Austin has broached the possibility of transferring. Coach Tim Floyd said Austin met with him Thursday and mentioned that he was considering seeking another school that would offer more playing time. "I think that is an option for him right now at this point," Floyd said. "We would hate to see him go, but he desperately wants to play."
