City officials could decide to cut a utility tax created in 1993 to help raise money for the general fund and help cover fire and police services, as well as street and park repairs. The City Council considered the issue last week, citing an increase in revenue and a decrease in expenses last year as reasons. However, some council members say now is not the time to make the cut. Last year, the tax generated more than $3.8 million for the general fund.
