There is now an eighth prospective candidate for the city's April 11 council elections. Leisure World resident Chuk Zoffer picked up nomination papers Wednesday. He joins incumbents Ann Snider, Victor Kay and Brenda Ross and challengers Robert Bouer, Helen Mencher, Mary Stone and Jan Nelson McLaughlin. Zoffer, who had attended a candidates information meeting held by the city Dec. 17, had said he believes he has the expertise to be on the council, having worked for various committees.

Nine residents will vie for three open seats during today's City Council election. The three incumbents are Victory Kay, Brenda B. Ross and Ann M. Snider. The hopefuls include Robert Bouer, Helen Mencher, Jan Nelson McLaughlin, Juel Andersen, Jacqueline Carey and Mary Stone. Residents can vote from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at every Leisure World clubhouse, City Clerk Meg Monahan said. Afterward, a machine will count the ballots inside Leisure World's administration board room.
