Weed whackers and leaf blowers, beware. Councilman Jim Thorpe has begun exploring the city's noise ordinances. When Laguna Woods became a city five months ago, the council decided to adopt county noise laws, Thorpe said. The ordinances were enacted last July, he said. But Thorpe said the city should consider creating its own codes in light of its opposition to the county's plans to construct an airport at El Toro.

The City Council agreed last week to create a city ordinance that would limit campaign contributions and expenditures in all municipal elections. City Manager Leslie Keane said the council hopes to set fund limits at its next council meeting, Oct. 18. "It's an issue that every city is concerned about," Keane said. Information: (949) 452-0600.
