A monthly forum by Glendale Mayor Larry Zarian scheduled for today has been canceled because of the Veterans Day holiday, the mayor said. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 13. In January, the meetings will resume at their regular time of 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.

The pros and cons of conducting evening City Council meetings will be discussed tonight at the regular monthly forum conducted by Councilman Larry Zarian. Some constituents have criticized the council for years for conducting regular meetings on Tuesday afternoons when working residents are usually unable to attend. Glendale officials occasionally schedule special night meetings to conduct hearings on controversial issues. The forum will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 613 E. Broadway.

Proposed cutbacks in the city staff, as well as possible layoffs, will be discussed at a forum to be held today by Councilman Larry Zarian and Assistant City Manager Robert McFall. Officials anticipate a $288-million budget for 1992-93, almost $8 million less than the current $296-million budget. At least 66 current positions and as many as 85 could be eliminated, Zarian said.
