Lauren Conrad has kept a low TV profile since she ended her reality TV days of MTV's "Laguna Beach" and its spinoff "The Hills. " And she's not itching to get back in that spotlight. "I only ever got to tell half my story," Conrad told Marie Claire, which she covers in the July 2013 issue. Lauren Conrad isn't just a celebrity. The blond from Orange County, with her trademark cat-eye makeup, is a cottage industry. Conrad, 26, hasn't appeared regularly on television since exiting the MTV reality show "The Hills" in 2009, but off-screen, she's been quietly building a lifestyle empire. (Her net worth is estimated to be about $12 million.) She's written two bestselling series of young-adult novels that play with Hollywood stereotypes. She runs an eponymous clothing line sold at Kohl's and a second fashion collection called Paper Crown that's available at 120 boutiques nationwide.

Worried about making a great impression on the first day of school? Even Miss Teen USA, Logan West, admits to feeling nervous on first days. "I was like petrified," the 18-year-old says. "I think it's just because it's a new year, it's new people, it's everything. " Often it's tempting to want to start a new school year - or any new chapter - with a totally new look as well. Just last weekend Miley Cyrus chopped her long locks into an edgy pixie crop and tweeted it for all the world to see. "Miley's cut is a bold move, and I have to say it's flattering on her," says Yesenia Almonte, beauty director for Seventeen magazine.
