As ambitious glee clubber and social pariah Rachel Berry, Lea Michele has been called RuPaul, taken more than a few fruit slushies to the face in the hallways of McKinley High and tried romancing her teacher by singing "Endless Love." The leap into the land of awkward adolescence has been a big one for Michele, the 23-year-old stage actress whose Broadway résumé is all serious drama -- she's been in the sexually charged "Spring Awakening" and the tear-jerker " Les Misérables." To get into Rachel's high-strung head, she dutifully studied Reese Witherspoon in "Election" -- "I channel Tracy Flick, yes," Michele said -- but it sounds like all she really needed to do was dig deep into her own aspiring performer days.

The event: Taste for a Cure, a fundraiser for UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation honoring Steve Mosko, president of Sony Pictures Television, featured a stand-up routine by comedian Tom Papa, two songs by Darren Criss and a surprise duet by Criss and Lea Michele, which surprised Michele as much as it happily surprised the audience. The scene: Beneath projections of the Eiffel Tower that flanked the Beverly Wilshire's ballroom on Friday, guests enjoyed a food-filled reception of French specialties and fine wines before taking their places for plates of cheeses and desserts, a live auction and official ceremonies.

The Lily Allen comeback continues. After returning to music late last year with the controversial " Hard Out Here " -- which itself followed her guest spot on Pink's " True Love " and her TV-commercial cover of " Somewhere Only We Know " by Keane -- the British singer early Monday released another song expected to appear on her upcoming third studio album. In "Air Balloon," Allen adopts a softer-edged tone than she did in "Hard Out Here," which took delightful aim at the music-industry sexism she evidently experienced in the wake of the birth of her two children.

Lea Michele, who was photographed over the weekend possibly "hiding a baby bump," has one thing to say about that.  She's hit the big time now. "My first fake pregnancy rumor! I've finally made it!" the "Glee" actress tweeted happily on Monday while her rep went on the record with outlets such as RumorFix to dub the alleged news "completely false. "  PHOTOS: The Hollywood baby boom Photos of Michele wearing loose-fitting clothes and carrying a big handbag - perfect for shielding the "bump" from prying eyes and telephoto lenses, don't ya know - were all it took to get the rumor mill cranked up. Good thing it was bogus, as a real-life baby would've put a crimp in writers' plans as Michele's Rachel Berry pursues her Broadway-baby aspirations on the Fox show.

Cory Monteith may not have been on stage at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards, but he was definitely in Lea Michele's heart as she collected her award for actress in a comedy series.  It was Michele's first public appearance since her boyfriend and "Glee" costar Monteith's accidental overdose on heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver, Canada, hotel room nearly a month ago. There's really no question: When it comes to pop songs about spherical implements of destruction, Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" beats Lea Michele's "Cannonball" in every way, not least in the matter of each song's central metaphor. "I came in like a wrecking ball / I never hit so hard in love," Cyrus sings , "All I wanted was to break your walls / All you ever did was wreck me. " That's good writing -- concise, emotional, easy to visualize. Then there's Michele, who sings, "Now I will start living today / Today I close the door / I got this new beginning, and I will fly like a cannonball.

Here's one thing about hype: It's almost impossible to live up to. That's the case of the highly anticipated Shakira and Rihanna collaboration, “Can't Remember to Forget You,” which premiered Monday. News that the pop stars came together to flaunt their sexiness in song sparked plenty of online chatter, especially when the official artwork surfaced of a sultry Rihanna draped over Shakira's lap, herself equally smoldering. Unfortunately, the single, which launches Shakira's follow-up to 2010's “Sale el Sol,” could use more steam.

Michelle Pfeiffer revealed an interesting tidbit over the weekend: She was once unwittingly a member of a cult. Pfeiffer told the Daily Telegraph's Sunday magazine, Stella, that as an up-and-coming actress, around age 20, she'd fallen in with a Los Angeles couple who acted as "kind of personal trainers" and were "very controlling. " Now a strict vegan, Pfeiffer was put on a diet by the unnamed couple, who also worked with weight training. "Their thing was vegetarianism," she said (via the Daily Telegraph )
