If you are interested in reading newspaper articles with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other article. Lemony Snicket, the elusive author of the junior fiction "Series of Unfortunate Events," will not be attending his reading Friday at Vroman's Bookstore. His representative Daniel Handler will be, however.

Lemony Snicket has a suggestion for your summer plans. "Mr. Snicket believes that summertime is such a dangerous season, what with sunburn and melted ice cream and the possibility of summer camp, that it's best to stay indoors and read," said Snicket's "representative," Daniel Handler, who still denies the overwhelming evidence that he is in fact the author of the million-selling Snicket books, "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

"The Grim Grotto" by Lemony Snicket, the 11th book in Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events." This is the sixth year that the magazine has had kids pick their favorite books. Here are some of their other choices: * General fiction: "The Report Card" by Andrew Clements. * Sci-fi/fantasy: "Dragon Rider" by Cornelia Funke. * Humor: "Judy Moody, M.D.
