The grave is south of town, in the cemetery on the bluff, just above the dusty sage lands of the southwestern San Joaquin Valley. The flat headstone is a few feet away from the tree-lined road. It reads: BELOVED HUSBAND & FATHER LEON O. PATTERSON 1933-1954 About 300 yards away, down a brush-covered slope, is Taft's complex of a half-dozen youth baseball diamonds.
