Executives of Life Sciences Research Inc., a medical research company frequently targeted by animal rights activists, were having breakfast in the ornate dining room of the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, excited about their new listing on the Big Board. But at 8:40 a.m., they were told by NYSE officials that the listing was to be postponed. And no reason was given.
