A citizens group that has organized annual Tet festival celebrations in Little Saigon for 17 years has filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking $1 million in damages after a similar claim was denied by the city. Members of the Little Saigon Tet Festival Committee, seeking redress for alleged discrimination and other damages, contend that Mayor Frank Fry Jr. abused his position when he canceled a three-day festival planned for February without a public meeting.

Two groups of businessmen are planning a festival to mark the official fourth birthday of Little Saigon. The celebration on Tuesday, featuring food and entertainment from American and Vietnamese cultures, is being sponsored by the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce of Orange County and the Westminster Chamber of Commerce.
