Robert Dale Schrader, 33, of Littlerock, was taken into federal custody Monday on two counts of producing child pornography after an investigation by the Long Beach-based, multiagency Child Exploitation Investigations Group. “This is one of the youngest, if not the youngest, child pornography victims ever identified in the Los Angeles area,” said Claude Arnold, special agent in charge for Immigration & Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations in Los Angeles, which played a lead role in the investigation.

Authorities on Friday identified the 63-year-old woman who died after being mauled by a pack of pit bulls in the Antelope Valley as Pamela Maria Devitt, of Littlerock. L.A. County sheriff's homicide detectives were continuing to investigate whether several pit bulls seized from the residence of a man, whose home contained a marijuana growing operation, are responsible for the fatal attack. Alex Jackson, 29, is a "person of interest" in Devitt's death, said Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Director Mike Ott, co-writing with his star, Atsuko Okatsuka, and his cinematographer, Carl McLaughlin, has found a way to say a lot with a little in "Littlerock," an ethereal and ephemeral musing on the art and artifice of communication. Which is not nearly as dry as that might sound, though Littlerock itself, a down-market exurb northeast of Los Angeles where the film is set, certainly is. So parched is this bump in the road that any movement sends dust flying in a landscape already saturated in browns.

A 3-year-old bear found dead Tuesday in the Antelope Valley was positively identified as the same bear that was running loose in Baldwin Park early Friday morning, wildlife officials said. Officials were called to a residence Tuesday in Littlerock, where the 275-pound male California black bear was said to be sleeping on the porch, according to California Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman Andrew Hughan. Residents in the Antelope Valley town of Littlerock say a fatal mauling by a pack of pit bulls earlier this month wasn't the first time homeowners there have encountered the aggressive animals. Kimberly Eslick, 29, lives with her family near the intersection of Ave. R-8 and E. 113 th St. She said they moved into the house about three years ago and said they see stray dogs all the time. Pit bulls used to sleep on their front porch and now there are dogs everywhere, she said. “There's stray dogs running all over, all the time,” said her mother-in-law, Carolyn Eslick, 54. Re "Where fear is unleashed," June 1, and "Dog owner is charged with murder in woman's mauling," May 31 The account of the mauling death last month of a woman in the Antelope Valley town of Littlerock is horrific. Just as sickening are the heartless dog owners who "drop off" their unwanted animals in the deserts outside Los Angeles and abandon them to a gruesome fate. When will people recognize that responsibility for dogs and their behavior is ours? Yes, responsibility for the most recent mauling death may belong to Alex Jackson, whose dogs had reportedly been involved in multiple attacks.
