Investor Marvin Davis, former owner of 20th Century Fox Film Corp., and Yukiyasu Togo, president of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., have been elected to the board of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. The council, a 9,000-member organization that hears addresses on current issues by major national and international figures, is chaired by businessman Paul A. Miller.

Tuesday Big jet: Emirates Airlines will unveil its first commercial A380 aircraft, which will offer nonstop service from Los Angeles to Dubai beginning in late October.

Paul A. Miller, chairman and chief executive of Pacific Enterprises, was reelected chairman of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, officials of the organization said Wednesday. The 9,000-member nonprofit, nonpartisan citizens' organization sponsors up to 50 meetings yearly at which foreign heads of state, diplomats, religious leaders, business executives, scientists and national political figures discuss various international issues.

The movement to limit the sale of pornography is driving X-rated magazines out of the family marketplace, the Rev. Jerry Falwell told the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. Falwell predicted that up to 50,000 retail stores nationwide will decide by the end of the year to not sell sex-oriented magazines "that exploit and demean the bodies of women and corrupt our young people."

Howard P. Allen and Joan B. Kroc will be honored by the League of Women Voters of California at the league's 65th anniversary dinner, Nov. 21 in the Century Room at the Century Plaza Tower. Allen was named chairman and chief executive officer of Southern California Edison last year. He has served on numerous boards, including the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, the National Conference of Christians and Jews and the California Chamber of Commerce.
