A Brazilian body builder from Marina del Rey who won a Mr. Universe title in 1987 has been arrested in Ohio on suspicion of trafficking in muscle-enhancing steroids, U.S. Customs officials in Los Angeles said Saturday. Customs spokesman John Miller said Luis Batista Freitas, 33, was taken into custody Friday night in Columbus, where he was participating in the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic contest sponsored by the International Federation of Body Builders.

A Brazilian bodybuilder who won the 1987 Mr. Universe title was sentenced Monday to five years probation for possession of a cache of muscle-enhancing steroids that were smuggled from Brazil to Woodland Hills. Luis Batista Freitas, 33, told U.S. District Judge James Ideman that he had no interest in using anabolic steroids again because he blames the drug for muscle damage to his shoulders. The suntanned Freitas also told Ideman: "I do not want to participate in any competition . . .
