Diedrich Coffee Inc., moving to bolster its presence in Southern California, said it signed a franchise agreement with M&P Coffee Ltd. of Studio City to open 50 coffeehouses in eight counties in the state, including portions of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. It's the Irvine-based company's third agreement in the last year to expand its operations in Southern California.

Diedrich Coffee Inc. said Monday it plans to expand into Nevada. The Irvine company signed an agreement with M&P Coffee Ltd. to develop 17 coffeehouses and an undetermined number of kiosks and carts in Nevada. M&P Coffee currently has an agreement with Diedrich to open 50 coffeehouses in Southern California, Diedrich said. The coffee retailer said it plans to add 1,200 to 1,500 coffeehouses nationwide over the next five to seven years.
