A motorcyclist from Burbank was killed when he tried to ride between a catering truck and an RTD bus on Magnolia Avenue in North Hollywood, Los Angeles police said. Caesar Williams, 24, had passed on the right of the catering truck Wednesday when he found his path blocked by the bus, which had stopped at the curb, Sgt. Art Haversat said. Williams swerved to avoid the bus and tried to squeeze between the two vehicles but fell off his motorcycle, Haversat said.

The Fremont South Neighborhood Council is sponsoring a cleanup today. The eight-hour project, which begins at 7 a.m., encourages residents to dispose of discarded items like mattresses and sofas that could be cited for code violations. The council will place three trash bins around the neighborhood to collect lumber, tires, green waste and miscellaneous junk. The bins will be at 900 W. Magnolia Ave.; Magnolia Avenue and Ventura Road; and Beverly Drive and K Street.

Police are seeking a suspect in the weekend stabbing death of an Anaheim man. The victim was identified Monday as Paulino Parada, 42, of Anaheim. Parada's body was discovered about 6 p.m. Saturday on the sidewalk of the 200 block of South Magnolia Avenue in Anaheim. Police have not determined a motive in the slaying, said Sgt. Steve Rodig of the robbery-homicide division.

A Garden Grove man drowned Sunday when his inflatable dinghy collapsed in the San Diego River in Santee, San Diego County sheriff's officials said. Several people saw Nhanh Huynh, 32, in the river after his boat deflated near Chubb Lane and Magnolia Avenue about 2:40 p.m., sheriff's dispatch supervisor Charlotte Flowers said. According to witnesses, the victim apparently did not know how to swim, she said.

Daum/Johnstown American negotiated the sale of the 2.3 acres on the southeast corner of Magnolia Avenue and Woodland Drive, where the structure is being built. The firm is also exclusive marketing agent.
