A 47-year-old Inglewood man is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in connection with the killing of a security guard in Marina del Rey just before the end of the year. Byron Keith Street is due to be arraigned on charges of murder, burglary, felony vandalism and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Street is accused of shooting and killing Patrick Odoikyene, a 47-year-old uniformed private security guard at an upscale apartment complex who was working in the 4200 block of Via Marina Drive on Dec. 30, the Sheriff's Department said.

Authorities are asking for the public's help as they continue to investigate the shooting death of a security guard outside an upscale apartment complex in Marina del Rey. Patrick Odoikyene, 47, was discovered in a parking lot early Monday with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's officials describe the suspect as a black male with a stocky, muscular build, a shaved head, a goatee and a medium complexion.

Organizers of the Rose Parade are defending the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's plans to hold a same-sex wedding on its float amid criticism and complaints posted online. The float, titled “Living the Dream: Love Is the Best Protection,” was created to celebrate victories in 2013 for gay-marriage advocates, including Supreme Court decisions upholding the repeal of California's Proposition 8 and striking down a key part of the Defense of Marriage Act. Foundation spokesman Ged Kenslea said the organization supports legally sanctioning same-sex marriage because it encourages more stable relationships as well as behavior that will prevent the spread of HIV.

A man found shot to death early Monday outside an upscale apartment complex in Marina del Rey was a “courtesy patrol” team member. An email sent by General Manager Sue Kohan to residents at the Shores complex said "a terrible tragedy occurred" that "involved one of the members of our courtesy patrol team. " A person with knowledge of the incident who spoke on the condition of anonymity because authorities are still investigating said courtesy patrol members are employees of an outside firm and serve as a resource for residents and visitors but are not security guards.

A married couple from Garden Grove who investigators suspect died in a murder-suicide were identified Monday by Orange County coroner's officials. Thanh Vuong, 51, and Yvone Tran, 39, were found with gunshot wounds Thursday in their home in the 1500 block of Sail Avenue. Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene. Police went to the house after receiving a 911 hang-up call from the home at 4:16 a.m. A male relative called the Garden Grove Police Department shortly after and said a family member may have shot his wife and then himself.

A man was found shot to death early Monday in Marina del Rey, authorities said. Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide detectives were called to the Shores apartment complex in the 4200 block of Via Marina at about 3:25 a.m., Sgt. Carmen Arballo said. Police tape roped off the apartment complex's parking lot, where the body was discovered, KTLA reported . The chic new apartment complex is near a small beach with a newly installed playground that is known for attracting families.

A shallow magnitude 2.8 earthquake was reported Thursday morning near Marina del Rey, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:53 a.m. PST at a depth of 5.6 miles. According to the USGS, the epicenter was two miles from Santa Monica and four miles from Culver City and El Segundo. In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
