A pair of pants worn by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the 1977 movie "Star Wars" are up for bid through Nate D. Sanders Auctions, which expects them to fetch somewhere between $70,000 and $100,000. The auction house's description reads, in part: "Hamill donned these iconic pants as the Jedi Knight of all Jedi Knights, wearing the costume pants throughout much of the film. Sand-colored 'cotton drill' Levi's pants are purposely distressed to display wear, with dirt to back right pocket and in spots to front of pant legs.

Forget Luke Skywalker. Formerly squeaky-clean Mark Hamill is back in a new movie, "Slipstream" . . . playing a bearded, ruthless killer cop who guns down men and women who get in his way! It opened in London on Friday and is set for the U.S. this summer. Taking the nasty role was a deliberate career move for Hamill, now 36, who abandoned films after "Return of the Jedi" was finished in 1982. "I was (over) 30 and still getting scripts in which I lost my virginity," he recalled.

It's been nearly 30 years since Mark Hamill first stepped into the space boots of one Luke Skywalker, and his life, as they say, would never be quite the same. The three-film "Star Wars" arc launched Hamill into the pop-culture stratosphere, and this week's release of "Revenge of the Sith" has Hamill back on the hot-interview circuit, even though the prequel features Luke's dad rather than Luke.

On Wednesday night's Season 8 finale of "Criminal Minds," the identity of the sinister serial killer known as the Replicator was finally revealed. And though the BAU team finally took him out, it wasn't before he managed to kill one of their own. Spoilers follow for those who haven't caught up on the show. It turns out the Replicator, whom the team had been tracking for most of the eighth season, was none other than guest star Mark Hamill. Hamill may be riding a new crest of notoriety following the disclosure that he'll be appearing in the next "Star Wars" movie, but to viewers of "Criminal Minds" he was just John Curtis, a demoted FBI agent out to get revenge on his former partner, Erin Strauss (played by Jayne Atkinson)

Hear the words " Cannes Film Festival," and your mind might drift to some of the glamorous personalities who have walked these historic seaside streets over the years: Catherine Deneuve. Sophia Loren. Angelina Jolie. Mark Hamill. Yes, that Mark Hamill, the 58-year-old actor best known for wielding a lightsaber in the "Star Wars" movies and a man who hasn't had a mainstream film role in more than two decades. This paparazzi-filled, fashioned-obsessed, au courant city wouldn't be the first place you'd expect a Jedi warrior to stand cheek by jowl with Oscar winners and the film world's most prestigious names.

"Star Wars" was born a long time ago, but not all that far, far away. In 1972, filmmakers George Lucas and Gary Kurtz were toiling on "American Graffiti" in their San Rafael office when they began daydreaming about a throwback sci-fi adventure that channeled the old "Flash Gordon" serials as opposed to the bleak "message" movies that had taken over the genre. "We had no idea what we were starting," says Kurtz, who was the producer of the first two "Star Wars" films and also a second-unit director.
