EPA Proposes 6 Additional Superfund Sites: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said five of the sites for inclusion on the federal Superfund National Priorities List are in California. The new sites are the Concord Naval Weapons Station, Concord; NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, Pasadena; Cooper Drum Co., South Gate; GBF Inc. Dump, Antioch; McCormick & Baxter Creosoting Co., Stockton, and Andersen Air Force Base on Guam.

Senate Democrats on Thursday accused the Bush administration of withholding key details about toxic waste sites that present risks of exposure to nearby residents. At a congressional hearing, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said the Environmental Protection Agency had designated as confidential the details of about 140 Superfund sites where toxic exposure remained uncontrolled.
