Sara Gilbert of "The Talk" is engaged to Linda Perry, her girlfriend of more than a year, the co-host announced Monday on the show. The proposal, which was elaborate, is best captured by the notoriously shy Gilbert herself, who shares the event in the video down below -- definitely worth watching to hear all the intricacies. Be warned: It involves a love song, a breakup song, a picnic, a guitarist, a daydream, a string section and horns, T-shirts, moms, friends and musician John Waite.

Melissa Gilbert may have been eliminated from “Dancing With the Stars” on Tuesday night, but she went out on a hot note - apparently mirroring her working relationship with dance pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “We talked about how some people are opposites, they're like oil and water … ,” she told “Access Hollywood” after the show, but “we were just fire and fire all the time.” “With us, you had no idea what was happening,” Chmerkovskiy told “Access,” saying he'd enjoyed their roller coaster of a season.

When she was 20, Melissa Gilbert wanted the world to know she was no longer the pigtailed pixie Laura Ingalls of "Little House on the Prairie." "That is when I really wanted to be a woman," stresses Gilbert, 28. "I was dating and had a steady boyfriend (actor Rob Lowe). I was seen out and about town. I wanted people to see me as an adult. I forced that issue." What she didn't realize then, Gilbert says, was that it was "inevitable" people would see her as a woman.

The plot features backbiting, conspiracy theories, accusations of cronyism, lies and corruption, even one celebrity calling another "a slug." All the makings of a good Hollywood drama, maybe even a prime-time soap. But this bit of reality TV comes to you via the Screen Actors Guild, Hollywood's biggest and most dysfunctional labor guild. Today, for the second time in five months, it will select a new president.

Casting has begun for one of the most thankless roles in Hollywood: president of the Screen Actors Guild. Tired of infighting and what she called an "untenable" situation, actress Melissa Gilbert said Thursday that she wouldn't seek a third term as SAG president. Her departure sets the stage for what history suggests could be another contentious battle for control of Hollywood's biggest and, many say, most dysfunctional union.

SAG and advertisers started formal negotiations only Tuesday, although union and company representatives have been crafting a deal behind the scenes the last few weeks.
