Timothy Bradley agreed in principle Thursday to fight Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, fulfilling a lifetime ambition for the unbeaten, Cathedral City-based world junior-welterweight champion. "This is about being the No. 1 fighter in the world, and that's what my goal has been for as long as I can remember," Bradley said. Reporting from Las Vegas — The most modest man at the podium made the boldest statement Wednesday. Danny Garcia, a soda truck driver who also trains world welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, turned to multimillionaire Floyd Mayweather Jr. and made a simple, passionate plea that will resonate until the boxers square off at the MGM Grand on Saturday night. "Floyd, at least for this fight, fight a good clean fight for the people," Garcia said as he stared down at Mayweather, who was seated at a news conference dais.

Reporting from Las Vegas -- J. Terrence Lanni, a casino executive who helped Las Vegas shed its mob-run image and earn Wall Street's respect, died late Thursday at his home in Pasadena. He was 68 and had cancer. Lanni served as an executive with Caesars World before joining Kirk Kerkorian's MGM Grand Inc. in 1995. Under his stewardship, the one-casino company grew into a 17-resort conglomerate, with a slew of casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and a venture in booming Macao. Legendary movie studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. will move to new, less lavish headquarters now that it has emerged from bankruptcy protection. MGM plans to leave a high-profile skyscraper in Century City and rent a six-story office building in Beverly Hills that was built for the former William Morris Agency but has never been fully occupied. The cost-saving move is part of a plan by creditors to wipe out about $5 billion in debt, clearing the way for the 86-year-old studio to focus its efforts on producing and releasing movies and television shows, according to real estate experts and a person close to the entertainment company who know about the deal but weren't authorized to speak publicly.

Fantasy buildings are so last century in Las Vegas . Now the buzz is about fantasy experiences, the latest of which are tied to an MGM Resorts casino loyalty program called M life Players Club. The payoff isn’t just in coupons for dinner or hotel room deals but also in the kinds of special-access events at MGM properties that merit bragging rights -- a day of directing the songs at the Fountains of Bellagio , a cameo appearance in a Cirque du Soleil production at Aria Resort & Casino , or cooking lessons with celebrity chef Rick Moonen at Mandalay Bay . To give travelers a taste of the new idea, MGM Resorts is simultaneously launching a sweepstakes that will accompany the Jan. 11 start of M life.
