Jason Taylor's newest step has him back where he started. The dancing linebacker signed a $1.5-million, one-year contract Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins. Taylor played his first 11 seasons with Miami before being traded a year ago to the Washington Redskins -- a fallout from his stint on the TV show "Dancing With the Stars." He was released by Washington in March after one injury-plagued season.

No. 8 Miami Dolphins: QB Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M - - Although he was recruited to college as a quarterback with great mobility, he was converted to a receiver in his second season. He maintained that role for the next 2 1/2 years and didn't switch back to quarterback until midway through his junior season. As a senior, he completed 61.6% of his passes and posted a passer rating of 133.2. Comment: Tannehill had just one full season as a quarterback and is a risk, but the Dolphins couldn't land a QB in free agency so they needed to roll the dice.

Brandon Marshall has been accused of punching a woman in the face outside of a New York nightclub over the weekend. The Chicago Bears were aware of the allegation when they acquired the receiver in a trade with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, the team said Wednesday. "Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend,” Bears General Manager Phil Emery said in a statement. “We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear.” According to a statement from Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, an altercation that did not involve either Marshall or his wife resulted in his wife being hit with a bottle.

Bill Parcells is putting his protege in charge. The Miami Dolphins' football czar has given control of the team to General Manager Jeff Ireland but will retain a role as a daily consultant. The Dolphins announced the move in a three-sentence statement Tuesday, five days before the start of the season. The change was part of a long-range plan when the Parcells regime took over at the end of the 2007 season, the statement said. Parcells joined the Dolphins in December 2007 as executive vice president of football operations, then hired Ireland two weeks later.

The San Francisco 49ers traded talented-but-troubled Tim McKyer to the Miami Dolphins today for an 11th-round pick in this year's draft and a second-round choice next year. McKyer, a starting cornerback for three seasons and a standout in January's Super Bowl victory over Denver, was in and out of coach George Seifert's doghouse last season. He was suspended for two games for insubordination.

The Miami Dolphins, one of the most active teams in the free-agent market, have signed two more players--former Chicago Bears linebacker Greg Clark and former Houston Oilers quarterback Brent Pease. Monday's signings increased to six the number of free agents signed this year by the Dolphins. Clark, 24, started one game for the Bears last year. He played outside linebacker, but the Dolphins will look at him on the inside. Pease, 24, is a candidate to become Dan Marino's backup.

Hockey and now baseball, so why not football too? Tony Tavares, Disney Sports Enterprises president, said Disney has not ruled it out. But National Football League rules prohibit such a venture for two reasons: The league does not allow cross-ownership of sports franchises and requires that football be the primary purpose of any corporation buying a franchise. The NFL remains flexible, however. A year ago it gave conditional approval to H.

Just like every other time he had been knocked down in his life, Leroy Holt got right back up. And like every other time, Holt knocked someone down with him. But today, rehabilitating at home in Hawthorne, the former USC and Banning High standout winces whenever he thinks of the goal-line scrimmage play that nearly put him into a wheelchair. "I picture it every day, over and over in my mind," Holt said.

The Miami Dolphins figure to be one of the most aggressive teams in bidding for the services of Peyton Manning, who will be released by Indianapolis on Wednesday morning. In doing so, the Dolphins will be mindful of what happened six years ago when they let a prime opportunity get away. In 2006, the Dolphins were in the market for a quarterback and had a chance to sign Drew Brees, who was coming off a devastating shoulder injury. Brees had been released by San Diego, which had decided to cast its lot with Philip Rivers.

A Peyton Manning photo the size of a drive-in movie screen still graces the front of Lucas Oil Stadium - site of this week's NFL scouting combine - but for how long? The quarterback's future with the Colts should be known within the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Dolphins fans have started a grass-roots campaign to lure the four-time MVP to Miami. As the Washington Post's Cindy Boren reports, fans in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., have bought a billboard to advertise ManningtoMiami.com, complete with a doctored shot of Manning in Dolphins turquoise and orange.

Tim Tebow's debut wasn't half-bad. It was more than three-quarters bad. But the Denver quarterback — each pass wobbling out of his hand like a waterlogged Nerf ball — somehow directed the Broncos to an 18-15 overtime victory at Miami on Sunday, reminding fans and critics alike that he simply knows how to win. "It's tough to say, but man, Timmy did a great job," said Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, who played with Tebow at Florida....

Grammy-winning salsa star Marc Anthony returns to TNT's "HawthoRNe" as an executive producer and Det. Nick Renata, a guest spot that graduates to a recurring character in the medical drama's third season, premiering Tuesday. Last season, you were a romantic interest of Jada Pinkett Smith's title character, but she and Tom (Michael Vartan) got back together, so now your detective is part of a whodunit. Is this your first recurring TV role? No question. I haven't ever done TV, and I always said if I was ever going to do it, I wanted to play a detective.

The Super Bowl will be played Sunday in Arlington, Texas, in a stadium without a corporate name. The World Series was played in that city last fall, in a ballpark without a corporate name. The race to sell the name of every sports facility in America has slowed in recent years, and not just because of a slumping economy in Texas. But big-bucks naming rights for big-time sports venues have come back, at least for a day, with Farmers Insurance set to announce Tuesday a $700-million agreement to put its name on AEG's proposed downtown football stadium.

Cycling, swimming, tennis -- for a man whose career revolves around football, Miami Dolphins CEO Mike Dee manages to stay active even when he's far outside the gridiron.  Think that sounds difficult to do when pulling 20-hour workdays? Dee says that cycling actually helps him make it through the day. He might have a point: Studies show that exercise can reduce symptoms of fatigue by a whopping 65%. Biking's also easier on the joints than sports like football -- but it's not without its dangers, particularly on car-filled city streets.

Cameron Wake might know the short way to the quarterback, but the Miami Dolphins outside linebacker sure took the long way to the NFL. Wake, whose sack-strip of Brett Favre last Sunday led to an instant Dolphins touchdown, took one of the more roundabout routes imaginable to get where he is today. Strong play from Wake on Sunday night will be key to contain the visiting New York Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez. "When a guy can beat you with both his legs and his arm, it puts more stress on your defense," Wake told the Palm Beach Post last week, referring to Sanchez, the former USC quarterback.
