Disgraced defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, suspended indefinitely by the NFL for his role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal, urged his players to take shots at the head, knees and ankles of specific San Francisco 49ers before a playoff game in January. In an obscenity-laced speech to the defense at the Saints' hotel the night before the game, Williams indicated with a hand gesture that he would personally pay for a shot to the head of 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. The speech was videotaped by documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon, working on a project about Steve Gleason, the former New Orleans special teams standout now suffering from ALS. The contents of the speech were first reported by Yahoo's Mike Silver.

Graham Harrell fired a 28-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with one second left and No. 6 Texas Tech stunned No. 1 Texas, 39-33, Saturday night in a wild game that will shake up the national-title race. Texas, 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12, had stormed back from a 19-0 deficit to take a 33-32 lead when Vondrell McGee scored on a four-yard run with 1:29 left in the game.

Clemson's first-time starter Cullen Harper threw two touchdown passes to lead the Tigers' 24-18 upset of No. 19-ranked Florida State on Monday night at Clemson, S.C., amid a report of two bomb threats earlier in the day. No explosive devices were found, although ESPN reported that security was heightened at Clemson's Memorial Stadium.
