Microage Computer Centers Inc

AST Research Inc. said Monday that MicroAge Computer Centers Inc. will begin selling AST's full line of computers in its retail stores. MicroAge, based in Tempe, Ariz., markets and distributes computers through a network of more than 1,500 franchised, company-owned and affiliated reseller locations. The company's fiscal 1993 revenue was more than $1.5 billion. Officials at AST's Irvine headquarters said the agreement will not affect the company's relationships with other customers.

Phoenix-based Microage Integration, a unit of Microage Inc., said it has acquired Centric Resources Inc., a Santa Ana provider of corporate technology services. Terms weren't disclosed. Centric has 85 employees and two full-service locations, one in Houston. The Houston branch will be merged into Microage's Houston unit. Microage Integration also said it has acquired Integration Partners, a Cincinnati-based provider of information technology products and services.

Pinnacle Micro Inc., a maker of optical data storage systems, entered a distribution agreement with MicroAge, an Arizona company that markets and distributes high-technology products. Later this week, MicroAge will begin distributing Pinnacle's recordable CD system worldwide, along with its 3.5-inch and 5.25-inch CD products. The 8-year-old Pinnacle creates systems for data-intensive computer applications, such as network storage, imaging and desktop publishing.

Her Newport Beach company, Centric Resources Inc., has teamed up with giant computer retailer MicroAge Inc. to help companies decide what equipment they need and then order it. Centric opened in March and already has $10 million in contracts to provide computers to corporations including Unocal Corp., Hughes Aircraft Co., Northrop Corp. and Rockwell International's Rocketdyne division.
