Spectrum Patent Declared Valid: A U.S. District Court judge in New York ruled that Spectrum Information Technologies Inc.'s basic patent is valid, the company said. The Manhasset, N.Y.-based company's core patent covers key methods for sending computer data over cellular networks. The decision lifts some of the litigation clouds that have loomed over Spectrum. The judgment comes out of a patent infringement suit Spectrum brought against Microcom Inc., a Norwood, Mass.
