When M.I.A. flipped the bird during her Super Bowl performance last year alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj, there was the typical water cooler outrage, which led the news cycle for a few days before some other pop star grabbed our attention. But the battle between the politically charged Sri Lankan rapper and the NFL raged on as the two have been at odds. Earlier this year news broke that the conflict between M.I.A. and the league had gotten quite messy and now she's finally speaking out about it.  The league had been reportedly pursuing a $1.5-million fine and a public apology from M.I.A.

Hey, world. Kim Kardashian just gave you the middle finger. Did you flinch? It just happened to be in the form of her rotund backside squeezed into a skimpy white swimsuit. Or so she said. C.J. Wilson is beginning to understand how Ringo Starr felt when the Beatles drummer, worn out after the 18th take of "Helter Skelter," flung his sticks across the studio and screamed, "I've got blisters on my fingers!" Wilson had to bow out of Tuesday's All-Star game because of a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. The Angels left-hander, who has battled blister problems for years, was replaced on the American League roster by Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy . "I can't begin to explain how frustrating it is to have an issue with a tiny little part of your body," said Wilson, who is 9-5 with a 2.43 earned-run average.

You know the Kiss Cam? That harmless bit many sporting events run between innings or during timeouts, in which a camera operator finds couples sitting in the stands and puts them on the big video screen, trying to get them to kiss? It's a little annoying, but harmless. All in good fun. Unless you are Chris Wilcox. The Boston Celtics center was minding his own business, sitting on the bench during a game against the 76ers in Philadelphia on Friday night when the Kiss Cam operator decided to put him on screen.

Sarah Childs might be getting a lump of coal for Christmas. But she's also gotten the gift of a temporary restraining order, which means she can continue giving her neighbors an eyeful. U.S. District Judge James Brady of the middle district court of Louisiana has ordered Denham Springs, La., officials to leave Childs alone about her home's Christmas display,  the Associated Press reports. Childs has been fighting with her neighbors, and on Nov. 27 -- as the American Civil Liberties Union put it in a  complaint against the city -- "installed on the roof of her house a string of holiday lights in the shape of a human hand with an extended middle finger.

UNDERRATED ' Key & Peele' on Comedy Central: Sketch comedy isn't a common thing on TV, so credit must be given not only for the network airing this show from the comic duo of Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele but for it being so solidly funny. Here's hoping this newcomer, vaguely similar to "The Chappelle Show" both in format and a sharp facility for tweaking racial issues, gets as much time to find an audience as the middling "Workaholics. " 'Point Blank' (2010) : Part of a remarkable recent run of French thrillers that includes "Tell No One" (2006)

Long before "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," there was (drum roll, please): BAI: Bertillon Anthropometric Identification! Well, maybe the title wouldn't have been catchy enough for a TV show. But the Los Angeles Police Department's adoption of the Bertillon system in 1898 began a short, colorful chapter in the struggle to single out habitual lawbreakers. Until then, a lack of accurate records prompted many judges to treat career bad guys as first-time offenders, leading to their early release.

As shot after shot went in the basket Tuesday morning, any doubts about Lazeric Jones' effectiveness were sunk. The UCLA point guard made 41 of 50 shots ranging from 15 to 17 feet, according to Coach Ben Howland , showing that the ruptured tendon Jones sustained on his right middle finger should not be an issue when the Bruins play USC on Sunday at the Galen Center. "He shot it well, and I think it's given him confidence, 'I'm going to be able to play with this,' " Howland said.
