Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were searching Saturday for a 28-year-old Lancaster man who has been missing since he withdrew $1,000 in cash from a savings and loan Wednesday morning. Lorne Frederickson was last seen dropping off his son at school and making the withdrawal at Downey Savings & Loan at 30th Street and West Avenue L at 9 a.m., according to Lt. Steve Fredericks. Frederickson was reported missing by his wife that evening.

The Coast Guard suspended its search Saturday morning for the three people who went down in a helicopter crash in the ocean early Friday off the coast of Huntington Beach. Coast Guard Petty Officer Kerry Kingery said the chances of finding survivors from the crash were slim. Divers with the National Transportation Safety Board will continue later to search for the crash victims and debris.

The suspicious disappearance of a young Lancaster couple four days ago has prompted Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies to launch a murder investigation, authorities said Sunday. The investigation was sparked by the discovery of a bullet lodged in a wall at the home of Carlos and Delia Guevera in the 42000 block of Alep Street, Deputy Rich Erickson said. Deputies found the bullet after they entered the house to check on the couple.

A La Mirada family is urging the public to help them find a missing diabetic man who suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Emelio A. Ramirez, 75, drove off about noon Saturday from his apartment in the 15800 block of Alicante Road, said Ramirez's daughter, Sylvia Zavala, 45. "He said [to his wife, Gregoria,] he was going outside to take out the trash and visit with friends downstairs," Zavala said. "Then, when she looked out, she realized the car was gone."

Police are asking for assistance in their search for a Hawthorne man who has been missing since New Year's Eve. Ronald Flores, 29, who may also use the name Ronald Coldoy, was last seen by family members at his Prairie Avenue home around midnight on Dec. 31, according to Hawthorne Police Lt. Arvid Krueger. Flores left home without telling anyone where he planned to go, said his sister Marena Flores, who lives in the house with her daughter. When she checked her brother's room the morning of Jan.

A woman's body found Tuesday in a Palmdale wash has been identified by the coroner, but her name and cause of death will not be released until authorities can notify her next of kin, a spokeswoman for Los Angeles County coroner's office said Saturday. The corpse was discovered while Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies searched for Renee Mullins, a Lancaster woman missing since Sunday whose body was found Wednesday in the California Aqueduct.

Sheriff's officials have called off the search for a sheriff's deputy, an experienced outdoorsman who disappeared a week ago after what was expected to be a daylong hike, authorities said. Jonathan Aujay, 38, a dog handler with the Sheriff's Department's Special Enforcement Bureau, has not been seen since Thursday, when he failed to return from a hiking trip to the Devil's Punchbowl.

A body found in a car in a Rancho Palos Verdes ravine was identified Wednesday as that of a 17-year-old girl reported missing last month from the Palos Verdes area. The body of Lynn Allison Snyder, who was reported missing Dec. 12, was discovered about midnight Monday, said Sheriff's Department spokesman. The cause of death had not been determined. Snyder's 1985 Mazda was found about 150 feet down an embankment at Palos Verdes Drive East near Ganado Drive.

A 14-year-old Newhall girl who had been the victim of a kidnaping a year ago in El Salvador was reported missing Saturday after last being seen at school. Nuria Lisbeth Valladares was reported last seen about 6:30 Friday morning when she got off a bus at Canyon High School at 19300 Nadal St. in Canyon Country, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Ron Spear.

A disabled 79-year-old woman, whose husband left her in their car then forgot where he parked, was found safe Monday after spending at least two days waiting for her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, Los Angeles police said. Iris Larzabal, who recently underwent hip surgery and is unable to walk, was hospitalized for dehydration after police, responding to a neighbor's call, found the car parked about two blocks from the Promenade and Topanga Plaza shopping malls.
