A Moorpark school board member who suggested that the city and school district jointly fund an on-campus gang intervention officer said Thursday that he will abandon the plan because of a lack of support from the city. Clint Harper said that without a financial commitment from the city to help pay the salary of the officer, who would have handled questioning of students, the move would be impossible. The City Council discussed the proposal late Wednesday and decided not to participate.

The Moorpark City Council on Wednesday will consider applying for a $7,000 grant to fund a series of outdoor concerts planned for the summer of 1994. Christine Adams, the city's director of community services, will suggest the city seek the grant money from the Achille Levy Foundation, an organization formed by the Ventura-based Bank of A. Levy in 1969 to support community activities.

Despite some members' concerns, the Moorpark City Council has tentatively agreed to spend city redevelopment dollars on a $3.6-million park that is outside its redevelopment area. At the council's Wednesday meeting, Mayor Paul Lawrason and Councilman Bernardo Perez lobbied against a proposal to use nearly $700,000 of the city's redevelopment money to complete the 69-acre Arroyo Vista Community Park on Tierra Rejada Road.
