The Moroccan government said voters gave overwhelming approval to a revised constitution that King Hassan II says will grant more authority to a new Parliament and bring a younger generation to high political office. The referendum is part of a new effort by the 63-year-old monarch to give a stronger democratic thrust to his reign. The reforms will enable the king to maintain his dominant role while devolving some minor powers to different branches of government.
