A 35-year-old Palmdale man was killed early Monday when he lost control of his motorcycle and was hit by a tanker truck, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. on the southbound Antelope Valley Freeway near Santiago Road, said CHP spokeswoman Rosa Ray. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Ray said. Witnesses said the man was riding between two lanes of the freeway before the accident.

A motorcycle traffic officer was struck by a pickup truck Sunday night that allegedly ran a red light and then continued on without stopping, police said. Officer Lisa Turvey, who is the only female motorcycle officer assigned to the Valley Traffic Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, was not seriously injured, said Lt. Joe Rezzo of the LAPD.

A 25-year-old man died after his speeding motorcycle slammed into the back of a trailer being towed by a pickup truck in Palmdale, authorities said. Juan Ramon Hernandez of Lancaster was riding south on Sunday on Sierra Highway near Avenue O-8 about 90 m.p.h. when he hit the rear of a slower-moving truck pulling a utility trailer, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Investigator David Davidson. Hernandez was ejected from the motorcycle on impact and was struck by another car, Davidson said.

An off-duty Los Angeles police officer died of injuries he suffered when his police motorcycle collided with a car in Lancaster, police said Thursday. Officer David C. Schmid, 34, died at Palmdale General Hospital about 10 p.m. Wednesday, nine hours after the crash, Police Sgt. Mel Cunningham said. Schmid, an eight-year veteran of the force, worked the past two years in the Valley Traffic Division, Cunningham said. The crash occurred about 1:15 p.m.

A Southern California Rapid Transit District bus driver arrested this month for allegedly running over and killing a fallen motorcycle rider in Canoga Park has been cleared of wrongdoing, a prosecutor said Thursday. At least two people were injured in a seven-vehicle accident Sunday night that briefly closed the northbound San Diego Freeway south of Avalon Boulevard in Carson, authorities said. Two of the injured, who were together on a motorcycle, were at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in stable condition with broken bones, said nursing supervisor Susan Davidson. All four lanes were closed after the 7:20 p.m.

A 25-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed on North Aliso Canyon Road in Acton, the California Highway Patrol reported. The man was traveling 60 to 70 m.p.h. when he overshot a curve about 6:30 p.m., veered across the eastbound lane and struck a dirt shoulder, Officer Susan Seruga said. The CHP declined to identify the dead man pending notification of his relatives.
