A comic who specializes in a taboo-busting form of mischievously delivered shock and awe, Sarah Silverman's profile isn't quite as sky-high as when she was inspiring complimentary magazine profiles in the wake of her one-woman-show-turned-movie "Jesus Is Magic," but she still has a sharp eye for digging into sacred cows. Here she'll be joined by a roster of guests that includes Natasha Leggero, Eddie Pepitone and more. Largo, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., L.A. Thurs., 8:30 p.m. $25. http://www.largo-la.com .

T.J. Miller is easy to spot, poolside, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. On a warm, midweek afternoon, Miller is relaxing between the afternoon's meetings. But even while kicking back, he's hamming it up for this reporter, who has just arrived and is scanning the bustling crowd for him. Amid the twiggy, burgeoning starlets in wispy bikinis and smartly dressed, fedora-clad producer types, the 6-foot-3 Miller stands frozen in midjog — fruity drink in hand, a manic smile on his face and wearing a glaring, red-and-white candy-striped shirt that screams T.G.I.

Do you know Neil Hamburger? I think he's very funny. He writes such cutting jokes. I'm a fan of characters and I like things that are a little beyond reality. I like a little razzle-dazzle. Have you ever seen him? He's this guy named Gregg Turkington, who's this cool hipster guy who plays this old vaudeville kind of salty, greasy [guy] ? he wears a suit and tells these one-liners, as people usually boo or are confused. He has a show at Spaceland once a month. And he was just on tour with Tim and Eric.

COMEDY Although its name sounds bleak, the all-star stand-up show "Comedy Is Dead" could well be subtitled "Long Live Comedy." This month's lineup features Tim Heidecker, one half of the demented duo Tim and Eric; Natasha Leggero, a judge on "Last Comic Standing"; and Duncan Trussell, who will appear in the upcoming Comedy Central series "Nick Swardson's Pretend Time." Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer, of "Human Giant," will host. Attendees must be 18 or older. Hollywood Forever, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd.
