Scratch No. 1 Gonzaga out of your bracket and replace it with the Shockers. It was a real shocker, all right. Ninth-seeded Wichita State hit the bull's eye when it came to knocking out the top-seeded Bulldogs, scoring a thrilling 76-70 victory in front of a crowd of 16,060 at EnergySolutions Arena. The win sends Wichita State to next week's West Regional semifinals at Staples Center. The Shockers will face the winner of Sunday's game between Mississippi and La Salle. “This feeling is unimaginable,” said freshman guard Ron Baker, one of Wichita State's heroes.

Where is UCLA bound for the NCAA tournament? Everyone has an opinion after the Bruins lost to Oregon in the Pac-12 Conference tournament final Saturday night. ESPN's Joe Lunardi's latest guess has UCLA in the Midwest Regional as a sixth-seeded team. The Bruins would be the California outsiders, playing Wichita State in their first game, a win advancing them to play the winner of Kansas State and North Dakota State. Jerry Palm of CBSsportsline.com is banking on the selection committee's sense of humor.

USC has advanced to the NCAA tournament and the Trojans (19-14) will face Virginia Commonwealth University (23-11) on Wednesday in a first-round game in Dayton, Ohio. If the Trojans beat the Rams, they will face sixth-seeded Georgetown (21-10) in Chicago in a second-round game on Friday. USC has never faced Virginia Commonwealth or Georgetown. Two victories and USC would play the winner of third-seeded Purdue and 14th-seeded St. Peters. The Trojans' tournament resume was boosted by five wins against teams ranked in the top 50 of the Ratings Percentage Index and a schedule that ranked 39th nationally in terms of strength.

Looks like UCLA is about to go it alone. USC gave the Bruins a little company from the neighborhood in the NCAA tournament last season. This year, the prospects are bleak. Only one other time in the last 10 years has there been just one team from the Los Angeles area in the NCAA tournament, in 1996. In 1991 and '92, there were three--UCLA, USC and Pepperdine. UCLA has been in every year since 1989. Loyola Marymount went in '88, '89 and '90. Pepperdine made it in '91, '92 and '94.

AUSTIN, Texas - UCLA is in the NCAA tournament, which used to be a rite of spring around Westwood. The Bruins should advance in the NCAA tournament … and advance … and advance. This is a requirement UCLA fans insist on. No one in the locker room should be happy just to be there. John Wooden retired 38 years ago, but the mandate remains. The No. 24-ranked Bruins tote that onto the court against Minnesota Friday night in their NCAA tournament opener at the Erwin Center. To please their fan base and silence critics, this can't be a one-and-done experience.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Harvard didn't stand a clam chowder chance. New Mexico was too tall and too strong. The outcome seemed decided in a routine eyeball test during pregame layup drills. But bigger isn't always better, right? PHOTOS: 2013 NCAA tournament No. 14-seeded Harvard, shooting a remarkable 52.4% from the field while making eight of 18 three-point attempts, pulled off a late-night West Regional shocker with a 68-62 victory over third-seeded New Mexico at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Stanford players were asked Friday how they felt about UCLA's loss to Princeton. They smiled at each other and you could see there was little sympathy for a tough loss by a conference rival. "It's a shame, man," point guard Brevin Knight said with a smile that drew laughs from players and media. Then he turned serious. "It's just another thing you can all say about the Pac-10. The whole league will get labeled with that loss. That happens.

Top-seeded teams No. 1 Kentucky: Coach John Calipari guided Massachusetts and Memphis to the Final Four and is now in position to match Rick Pitino's feat of doing it at three different schools. No. 2 West Virginia: With a starting lineup entirely made up of players from the New York metropolitan area, the Mountaineers won their first Big East Conference tournament title. No. 3 New Mexico: The Lobos open in San Jose, the start of a journey that could give Coach Steve Alford a triumphant return to the Hoosier state for the Final Four.
