Netter Digital Entertainment Inc., North Hollywood, announced it has signed an $8-million contract to produce 26 episodes of a computer-animated television series over the next 12 months. Netter acquires, develops and produces television series and movies, and provides 3-D and special-effects animation services to the entertainment industry. The company's clients include Warner Bros. and Turner Network Television.

Netter Digital Entertainment Inc., which helps produce the science-fiction television show "Babylon 5," said Tuesday that it hired Sutro & Co. to examine strategies for long-term growth. Netter Digital shares leaped 38%, rising 63 cents, to close at $2.25 on the Nasdaq Small-Cap Market. The North Hollywood-based company did not give details of the options it might be considering.

Netter Digital Entertainment Inc., a North Hollywood digital film production studio, said it has received net proceeds of $3.74 million from an initial public offering of 860,000 shares of common stock--priced at $5 per share--and 430,000 redeemable warrants. Phoenix-based W.B. McKee Securities Inc. was the managing underwriter. The proceeds will be used for working capital, to buy equipment and creative rights, set up a merchandising unit and repay loans.

Netter Digital Entertainment Inc., North Hollywood, announced a net loss of $986,000 for the fourth quarter that ended June 30 compared to a net income of $$229,000 for the same period last year. Revenues were $3.4 million, down from $8.2 million. For the year that ended June 30, Netter reported a net loss of $709,000 compared to a net income of $512,000 for the previous year. Revenues were $23.3 million compared to $28.4 million.

Revenues dropped to $2.93 million from $6.89 million. Netter Digital produces television and films and provides animation, special effects and post-production services to the entertainment industry.
