After being hospitalized in Los Angeles following a series of seizures last week, rapper Lil Wayne has been visited by several high-profile associates including Nicki Minaj, Drake, Birdman and basketball player Chris Paul. Birdman tweeted that the rapper “will be home real soon,” and a source close to Wayne told The Times on Friday that he was “recovering.” Another source told US Weekly that Lil Wayne's health problems could stem from his use of a popular drink combining cough syrup with codeine and other ingredients.

Forget catfight - the videotaped throwdown between divas Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey was more like a yappy pink Chihuahua going 100% at a Great Dane. The two new "American Idol" judges, with fellow newbie Keith Urban trapped at the table between them, reportedly went at it near the end of the day in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday after a disagreement about a contestant's audition. Sound on the video , obtained by TMZ, is difficult to understand clearly, but according to the website's transcript , a pink-haired Minaj rails against Carey over alleged insults, resume-touting and more while the elder diva bemoans her co-judge's immaturity and the fact that the drama is keeping her from her kids.

It's turning into mea culpa week, first with Drake apologizing for his tweet complaining about being replaced on the cover of Rolling Stone by Philip Seymour Hoffman following the actor's death, and now Nicki Minaj humbling herself for using an image of Malcolm X in conjunction with her new song that invokes the N-word. “I apologize to the Malcolm X estate if the meaning of the photo was misconstrued,” she said on Instagram in reference to her coupling of the song's title, "Lookin Ass N - ," with a 1964 Ebony magazine photo showing the black activist leader looking out a window while clutching an M-1 rifle.

Fame is a funny thing, especially when it comes to someone with such obvious talent as Nicki Minaj, whose stardom seemed assured from the start. It was only a few years ago that the superstar rapper earned her ubiquity with a string of explosive, immediately identifiable cameos.  With a whip-smart wit, fantastic verbal skills and a fluid, inventive flow, Minaj was -- and remains -- a game-changing talent in a very competitive field. She reminded women that rapping offers expressive and financial freedom, and she made talented rappers from the opposite sex sound like amateurs alongside her crazy, roller coaster rhymes and delivery.

Hey, in case it wasn't yet clear: "American Idol" is undergoing a major overhaul. Reports have long been swirling that the judges panel would be getting wiped out after another season of dipping ratings and to save costs amid ballooning salaries for top-tier judges. Now everything seems to be coming to fruition. First, veteran judge Randy Jackson announced his departure from the long-running reality series. Then came official confirmation that Mariah Carey would be leaving.

Could Nicki Minaj be the next to leave the struggling "American Idol?" It appears so according to a report in Us Weekly. Citing unnamed sources, the magazine says Minaj won't be back on "Idol" when it returns for its 13th season. Instead, the singer will be focusing on her next album, touring and endorsements. This report comes just days after longtime "Idol" judge Randy Jackson announced that the show's 12th season would be his last. Well, so much for playing nice. “American Idol” has barely gotten underway and a purported feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj -- they've both denied the beef -- has become a full-blown diva showdown, as seen in video leaked by TMZ on Tuesday evening. In the clip, Minaj and Carey are in a heated argument that reportedly derailed auditions in Charlotte, N.C. PHOTOS: 'Idol' judges through the years There's plenty of swearing and shouting in the clip, so it's hard to fully decipher the argument.

Nicki Minaj has finally spoken out about DJ Khaled's very public MTV marriage proposal. Guess what! They're not getting married. Surprise!  Turns out the whole thing was a publicity stunt to promote the rapper's single "I Wanna Be With You," which features Minaj and will appear on his album "Symptoms of Success," due out Sept. 24. Is any of this sounding familiar? PHOTOS: 50 most beautiful female celebrities Well, it should. Nicki Minaj took a break from her usual fashion escapades to make another kind of sartorial statement in her latest music video (warning: explicit lyrics) for the single "Freedom" off her album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up. " In the video Minaj wears a crown of thorns and a long black dress, making a comparison to Jesus Christ. “American Idol” has done the unthinkable: It's gone back to basics. After years of trying to find its mojo with high profile judges and format switches, the aging singing franchise has dialed it down for its latest season, which premieres Wednesday and Thursday. Last season proved to be a disaster for the one-time ratings and talent juggernaut. Ratings hit a record low and the talent -- as fierce as some contestants were -- took a backseat to the petulant behavior between superstar judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

If the last season of "American Idol" proved to be an eyeball ping-pong experience while watching the animosity between judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey percolate, then the forthcoming season might come as a relief to the optical nerves. The latest judging trio lineup - Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. - like to look at one another when speaking, as evident at the show's panel Monday at the Television Critics Assn. press tour, poking fun and having some laughs in the process.

Mariah Carey didn't hold back about her true feelings regarding her "American Idol" hosting gig. So much for "The Art of Letting Go. " The pop icon unleashed quite a bit of vitriol during a Tuesday interview with New York's Hot 97 host Angie Martinez . Carey didn't refer by name to her former co-judges - Nicki Minaj or Keith Urban - but did liken the whole experience to being "in hell with Satan. " Basically, she didn't like it one bit. PHOTOS: 'Idol' judges through the years "Honestly, I hated it," the 43-year-old said.

Mariah Carey didn't dance around the issue when asked about her time on "American Idol. " During a recent radio appearance, the singer said her time as a judge on the show was like "going to work every day in hell with Satan. " Carey appeared on "The Angie Martinez Show" on New York radio station Hot 97 on Tuesday and was asked, "Did you like [working on 'American Idol']?" Carey's response: "Honestly? I hated it. ... Here's what I was led to believe. I was the first person signed on. ... I thought it was going to be a three-person panel.

When M.I.A. flipped the bird during her Super Bowl performance last year alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj, there was the typical water cooler outrage, which led the news cycle for a few days before some other pop star grabbed our attention. But the battle between the politically charged Sri Lankan rapper and the NFL raged on as the two have been at odds. Earlier this year news broke that the conflict between M.I.A. and the league had gotten quite messy and now she's finally speaking out about it.  The league had been reportedly pursuing a $1.5-million fine and a public apology from M.I.A.

The politically volatile singer M.I.A. has never shied away from a fight, but now she's taking on a particularly imposing American institution -- the NFL. During her 2012 Super Bowl performance alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj, cameras briefly captured M.I.A. raising her middle finger at the cameras. There was a minor hubbub, and you probably forgot about it within days (if not seconds). The NFL, it seems, was less quick to forget. As new documents published in the Hollywood Reporter show, the league has quietly been pursuing a $1.5-million fine and a public apology from M.I.A.

Following weeks of speculation, Fox has made it official: Pop star Nicki Minaj and country crooner Keith Urban will join Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson as "American Idol" judges. The move comes as "Idol" gets ready to start auditions in New York on Sunday for Season 12, which will premiere in January on Fox. The field is crowded: Earlier this week, singing-show rivals "The X Factor" and "The Voice" opened to relatively soft ratings, with the former losing nearly one-third of its audience compared with last year.

After another summer filled with rampant speculation, Fox has finally confirmed the ever-changing “American Idol” judges' panel will be a mix of familiar faces from the show. Country statesman Keith Urban, the sole returning judge from last season's revamp, will be joined by pop diva Jennifer Lopez, who reigned on the aging show in 2011 and 2012, and Harry Connick Jr., who has previously mentored contestants. The good? First, those endless reports of who the network was considering can stop (a deal with pop mastermind Dr. Luke reportedly fell apart in the eleventh hour)

You may not be able to wear white after Labor Day, but you can rest easy knowing Fox has officially confirmed the once-again-updated judges panel for "American Idol. " Keith Urban will be the sole returning judge from last season's panel. He'll be joined by "Idol" hanger-on Jennifer Lopez, who had been a judge on the series in 2011 and 2012 and returned as a guest performer last season, and by former "Idol" mentor Harry Connick Jr., whom the Hollywood Reporter identified as the third member of the jury over the weekend.
