One man was killed and a second wounded in what appeared to be a gang-related attack in Koreatown late Friday, police said. Isaac Lauriano died from a gunshot wound at County-USC Medical Center after he was fired on in the 800 block of South Oxford Avenue just before midnight, said Norma Eisenman, an LAPD spokeswoman. A man fatally shot in front of his Arleta store was identified Tuesday as 34-year-old Nestor Hernandez, officials with the Los Angeles County coroner's office said. Autopsy results are pending, said coroner's spokesman Ed Winter, but police say Hernandez was shot multiple times. Hernandez is believed to have been closing his shop Monday night in the 8900 block of Woodman Avenue when he was confronted by a man on the sidewalk, LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said. His wife told authorities her husband had owned the store since February, Eisenman said.

A man died early Saturday morning after being run over by a car, Los Angeles police said. The victim, who has not been identified, and another man began arguing with two other men about 1:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven in the 1500 block of North Gaffey Street, said Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. Two men got into a white van and then ran over the other two, police said. One man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital.

Authorities were searching Tuesday for a gunman who fatally shot an Arleta store owner during an apparent robbery, Los Angeles Police Department officials said. According to witnesses, the 34-year-old victim was confronted by a man on the sidewalk in front of his store around 8:40 p.m. Monday, LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said. The victim is believed to have been closing his shop, which is in the 8900 block of Woodman Avenue, Eisenman said. His wife told authorities her husband had owned the store since February, Eisenman said.

A man who led police on a chase through East Los Angeles before crashing his SUV in Rosemead and is accused of firing at officers from the burning vehicle died at the scene shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. The chase started about 1:30 p.m. in central Los Angeles and ended when the suspect crashed near Walnut Grove and Garvey avenues in Rosemead about half an hour later, said LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman. No officers were hurt in the incident, said Eisenman, who added that officers had pursued the vehicle because they believed it was connected to a homicide investigation.

A 26-year-old man died after a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting on the Hollywood Freeway early Saturday morning, Los Angeles police said. Bunthan Roeung was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after he was shot in the upper back following a 2 a.m. altercation with several people on Hollywood Boulevard, said Norma Eisenman, an LAPD spokeswoman. Roeung was a passenger in a vehicle traveling down the boulevard when he and other people with him got into a verbal disagreement with several males in a second vehicle, Eisenman said.

A motorist was killed Saturday in Porter Ranch after he lost control of his vehicle, which rolled over and crashed into a tree at the bottom of a wash, police said. The crash occurred about 5:45 a.m. in the 11600 block of Tampa Avenue, Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said. Xavier Gomez, 19, of Northridge was pronounced dead at the scene, Eisenman said. Detectives had initially focused on the possibility that the crash was caused by street racing, but they concluded that Gomez was not racing.

A man shot and killed by a police officer in the 3000 block of Loosmore Street on Friday was identified as Carlos Edwin Arevalo, 25. According to Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman, the shooting occurred about 6:25 p.m., when two officers in an "all-purpose vehicle" saw two people on the street and stopped to talk to them. The pair took off running. "There was some sort of pursuit, and an officer was involved in the shooting," she said. Eisenman said that a handgun was recovered at the scene and that the officers were in uniform, an assertion disputed by several neighbors.

Two male suspects were shot and wounded by Los Angeles police officers in confrontations in the San Fernando Valley and in East Hollywood on Friday night, authorities said. The first shooting occured about 9:15 p.m. in Sylmar after police tried to stop two men who were walking on a residential street, according to Norma Eisenman, a police spokeswoman.  The men began running, Eisenman said, and as the officers gave chase, “one suspect stopped and pointed what appeared to be a gun at the officers, at which time there was an officer-involved shooting.” The wounded suspect, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital and is in serious condition.

A man drove up to three men and opened fire, killing one and injuring the other two in a gang-related shooting early Sunday, authorities said. The three men were standing near the 300 block of West 73rd Street, said Los Angeles Police Officer Norma Eisenman. One man, about 30, was shot in the chest and legs and died at a hospital.
