The Oak Park Unified School District will start an adult education program next fall with state funds that recently were made available for school districts that did not offer adult education classes this year. The district, in eastern Ventura County, will receive about $26,000 next year. Funding is expected to double the following year. The funding "is really small, but it is a nice window of opportunity for us," said Larry Misel, director of alternative education programs.
