A lawsuit to halt Gov. George Deukmejian's plan to abolish Cal/OSHA and turn responsibility for worker safety over to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration was filed in San Francisco Superior Court by Assemblyman Richard E. Floyd (D-Hawthorne), chairman of the Assembly's Labor and Employment Committee, and by a coalition of labor groups.
