A 16-year-old Roosevelt High School student was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting that took place off-campus, police said Tuesday. The boy, who was not immediately identified, was walking in the 3200 block of 8th Street when several people in a four-door sedan drove up, confronted him and began firing, said Officer Julianne Sohn of the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim was struck several times. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

Police on Sunday released the name of a suspect in the stabbing death of a 67-year-old man in his Koreatown apartment early last week. Shawn Towne, 34, of Los Angeles was arrested Saturday after officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire Division found the victim inside his apartment in the 800 block of South Serrano Avenue, said Officer Julianne Sohn. The relationship between the two men was unknown, Sohn said. The motive for the stabbing also had not been determined, she said.

A nightclub bouncer was shot in the back early Thursday by an unknown assailant, police said. The 35-year-old victim, whose name was not released, walked into the lobby of the LAPD's Hollywood Division station about 3:30 a.m., bleeding from his wound, said Officer Julianne Sohn. Although the victim worked at a nearby club, police said the shooting took place near the intersection of Wilcox and Lexington avenues and appeared not to be related to the club. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A 45-year-old man was shot in the head Friday, police said. The victim, whose name was not released, was standing near Virginia and Western avenues about 2 a.m. when a new, red Chevrolet sedan pulled up and three or four men got out. One of them shot the victim and then they all got back in the car and fled, said Officer Julianne Sohn of the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Sohn said. Police have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting or released descriptions of the suspects.

A resident of a third-floor loft north of downtown was being questioned in connection with the fatal shooting of his roommate on Thursday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman said. Officer Julianne Sohn said police received a call about 2:15 p.m. from a man who said he had just killed another man. Responding officers and paramedics found the victim dead at the scene in the 1700 block of North Main Street, near the San Antonio Winery. The man who called police said he and his roommate had gotten into an argument and he shot him. The men's identities were not released.

Police were looking Sunday for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old Sun Valley boy who played football for John H. Francis Polytechnic High School. Edward Satterstron was struck several times in the chest while walking near the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Roscoe boulevards about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, said Officer Julianne Sohn of the Los Angeles Police Department. The teen walked into a nearby Taco Bell restaurant and collapsed, then was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died, she added.

A 30-year-old Silver Lake man shot and killed his two young children, wounded his estranged wife, then killed himself Friday night, authorities said Saturday. They said Jorge Cruz Iraheta and his estranged wife, Marta Iraheta, argued early Friday evening. The man had violated a restraining order by confronting his wife, police said. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Division initially responded to a domestic dispute at a single-family home about 9 p.m.

Police on Friday identified an armed man shot and killed by officers in the early hours of New Year's Day. Saul Soriano, 41, was shot about 2:20 a.m. Thursday by three Los Angeles Police Department officers in the crawl space of a home's garage converted to a living area in the 14100 block of Terra Bella Street, said Officer Julianne Sohn, an LAPD spokeswoman. Officers arrived at the house just after 12:30 a.m. in response to a 911 call about a man firing shots in the air and threatening his family during a New Year's Eve party, said Lt. John Romero, another LAPD spokesman.

A South Los Angeles man was charged Tuesday in connection with a series of Westside home invasion robberies targeting elderly women. Jeffrey Wayne Langford, 53, dubbed by police "the Silverware Bandit," was charged with three robberies since June, two in Los Angeles and one in Santa Monica. Police are investigating his involvement in at least a dozen others. "He was just a window away from striking again," said Capt. Bruce Cremins of the Los Angeles Police Department. "He was casing people, he was very sophisticated, he was very experienced."

A woman was fatally stabbed in the neck Monday evening in the parking structure of a Century City high-rise, Los Angeles police said. The attack occurred about 6:30 p.m. at 1875 Century Park East, an upscale building that houses law firms, financial institutions and entertainment businesses. LAPD Officer Julianne Sohn said the attack on the parking structure's third floor occurred in front of several witnesses, who were being interviewed by detectives late Monday.
